From the Heart of France to Your Hands – The Journey of Our Leather at a Century-Old Tannery

Nestled in the scenic French countryside, our nearly century-old tannery is where the story of each Attach Flip case begins. Surrounded by lush fields, this family-owned tannery has preserved the art of leather craftsmanship through generations, blending time-honored techniques with meticulous care.

Our recent visit was a rare opportunity to experience the artistry behind each hide. Stepping inside, we were greeted by the rhythmic hum of rotating drums, where the tanning process begins. Each hide is submerged in these massive barrels, infusing it with the durability and richness that make it perfect for Attach cases. Watching the transformation, we saw the remarkable journey from raw hide to a material that’s both resilient and supple.

Next, we followed the leather to the drying stage. Skilled artisans gently lifted each piece from the tanning baths, stretching them across nets and later hanging them in a carefully controlled room with just the right humidity levels. This deliberate drying approach enhances the leather’s natural texture and longevity.

One of the most captivating moments was witnessing the traditional imprinting of our Lagun leather. Using a machine that’s nearly a century old, artisans emboss each hide with the signature Lagun pattern, giving it a texture reminiscent of caviar. The precision and care in this process ensure a uniform and elegant finish, making every piece unique and refined.

It was an interesting experience to see the final softening process, where hides are placed in rotating "massage" cubes, enhancing the leather’s luxurious feel. This stage perfects the texture, preparing it to be crafted into the Attach Flip Case.

As our visit drew to a close, we walked through the tannery's showroom, admiring the ready-to-use leathers in various colors, including our signature Torillon orange. With the countryside views spilling in from the windows, the scene felt almost like a moment out of time, reminding us that beauty and quality are worth waiting for.
